In the ever-evolving landscape of electric vehicles, Wuling is preparing to make waves with its newest offering, the Binguo S. Set to debut on September 27th, this compact all-electric vehicle aims to provide an affordable yet technologically advanced option for consumers. As a direct competitor to Geely's Xingyuan, Wuling's Binguo S promises to deliver on both performance and style, all while maintaining a budget-friendly price point.

Wuling, a prominent player in the Chinese automotive scene, is gearing up to launch its latest creation, the Binguo S, an electric vehicle designed to rival the likes of Geely Xingyuan and BYD Seagull. With pre-sale prices ranging from 68,800 to 81,800 yuan (approximately 9,500 to 11,300 USD), the Binguo S is positioned as an accessible choice for consumers seeking an entry into the world of electric mobility. The vehicle will be offered in two variants, each with different range capabilities: a 325-kilometer version and a longer-range 430-kilometer model, both measured under China's CLTC testing standards.

Under the hood, the Binguo S boasts a front-wheel-drive system powered by a permanent magnet synchronous motor, delivering a maximum power output of 75 kW (100 hp) and peak torque of 180 Nm. The shorter-range model is equipped with a 31.9 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, while the extended range option features a larger 41.9 kWh battery. This setup not only ensures versatility in performance but also caters to varying consumer needs with regard to driving distance. Additionally, the vehicle incorporates a MacPherson independent front suspension and a torsion beam non-independent rear suspension, providing a balance between comfort and handling.

The Binguo S is further distinguished by its innovative design elements. A new design language sets it apart from previous models in the Binguo family, featuring unique lighting elements and a strategically placed charging port on the left front side of the vehicle. Consumers can personalize their Binguo S with a choice of four exterior colors: Relaxed Grey, Free Blue, Carefree Purple, and Empty White. Inside, the vehicle continues to impress with an 8.88-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.8-inch central touchscreen that supports DeepSeek's advanced language model, offering specialized driving modes for different scenarios such as camping and commuting.

The interior of the Binguo S is designed with both comfort and functionality in mind. It features a 2+3 seating configuration with leatherette upholstery standard across all trims. The rear seats can be folded down to expand cargo space to an impressive 1,450 liters, catering to those who require additional storage capacity. Higher trims enhance the driving experience with six-way power-adjustable front seats and heated seating options. Technologically, the Binguo S is equipped with a 50W wireless phone charging capability, a six-speaker audio system, and a backup camera, providing a modern and convenient driving experience.

Aiming to capture the attention of the growing electric vehicle market, Wuling's Binguo S represents a significant step forward for the brand. By combining affordability with cutting-edge technology and design, Wuling is poised to challenge its competitors and solidify its position in the EV space. As the Binguo S prepares to hit the market, it underscores Wuling's commitment to making electric vehicles accessible to a broader audience, potentially setting a new standard for what consumers can expect from affordable EVs.

The specs seem solid, but I'll wait for third-party battery performance tests before considering it.
