Nissan has unveiled the sixth generation of its iconic MICRA, a fully electric vehicle that promises to redefine urban mobility. Making its first public appearance in Rotterdam, the MICRA showcases a blend of advanced technology, responsive handling, and innovative design, setting a new standard for compact electric cars.

Electric Performance and Versatility

The all-new MICRA offers an impressive blend of performance and practicality, setting itself apart in the compact electric vehicle market. Its multi-link rear suspension and low-mounted battery ensure a grounded and responsive driving experience. The MICRA's compact size doesn't compromise its road presence; it maintains a stable, agile demeanor whether navigating narrow city streets or winding rural roads. With a reduced weight of 1,377 to 1,452 kg and a low center of gravity, the MICRA offers a spirited, comfortable drive that is both dynamic and efficient.

Nissan has equipped the MICRA with two battery options: a 40kWh version offering up to 198 miles of range and a 52kWh variant extending the range to 260 miles, both tested under the WLTP standard. These batteries support DC fast charging up to 100kW, significantly reducing downtime and making long-distance trips more feasible. Additionally, the MICRA is prepared for future innovations such as Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) integration, enhancing its utility and environmental benefits.

Design is a crucial aspect of the new MICRA, with every detail crafted to reflect its energetic and connected character. From its 18-inch wheels to its SUV-inspired silhouette, the MICRA is designed for the modern urban environment. Inside, the car continues this theme of understated elegance. The cabin features dual 10.1-inch screens that blend digital control with clarity, enhancing the driving experience without overwhelming the senses.

The MICRA is not just about aesthetics but also about functionality. Its tech features are seamlessly integrated into the driving experience. With Google built-in, drivers have access to Google Maps, Assistant, and Play Store directly from the cockpit, making navigation and entertainment intuitive. The NissanConnect app further enhances usability by allowing remote access to vehicle settings and status updates, ensuring that tech-savvy users can enjoy a fully connected experience.

Safety is paramount in the MICRA, with a suite of driver assistance features ensuring peace of mind on every journey. From adaptive cruise control to parking support, the MICRA is equipped to handle the demands of modern driving. Standard safety features like Autonomous Emergency Braking and Lane Departure Warning further enhance its safety credentials, making it a reliable choice for urban commuters.

The introduction of the MICRA marks the beginning of Nissan's ambitious electric vehicle expansion in Europe. By 2027, Nissan plans to launch four new fully electric models, including the MICRA, LEAF, JUKE, and an A-Segment model, alongside its new e-POWER technology. The MICRA, with its competitive starting price of £21,495 (including a government grant), is already available for order in the UK, with deliveries expected to commence in January 2026.

Ah, another electrifying debut! Because, of course, what could be more innovative in this day and age than slightly longer range and fast charging? It’s almost like we’ve been on this road before, though.
