Leapmotor has offered a sneak peek into the interior of its upcoming B05 electric hatchback. Known domestically as the Lafa 5, this vehicle is set to make waves in China's burgeoning electric vehicle market. The latest images reveal a sleek, minimalist cabin designed to attract a youthful audience.

The unveiling of the B05's interior comes as anticipation builds for its official debut in China this October. Leapmotor's design team has opted for a single-tone black layout, enhancing the modern aesthetic of the car. A standout feature is the rectangular infotainment display integrated into the center console, which includes a wireless charging pad, catering to tech-savvy consumers. The panoramic sunroof and fully reclining front seats add a touch of luxury to the compact hatchback, promising a comfortable ride for both driver and passengers. The use of mixed materials across the dashboard and door panels ensures a cohesive look throughout the interior, reflecting Leapmotor's attention to detail in creating a premium yet accessible vehicle.

The B05, first showcased at the 2025 Munich Motor Show, has already sparked interest with its striking design and advanced features. Set to be officially launched at the Guangzhou Auto Show in November, the hatchback is positioned to compete in the compact electric vehicle segment against established models like the BYD Dolphin and the Geely Geome Xingyuan. With its closed front grille and integrated light bar, the B05 presents a futuristic exterior. Additional features such as active grille shutters and aerodynamic air curtains aim to improve efficiency and performance.

Under the hood, the B05 is powered by a single electric motor from CRRC Times Electric Drive, delivering a peak output of 132 kW. This motor is paired with a lithium iron phosphate battery pack, promising a top speed of 160 km/h. The hatchback maintains a 50:50 front-to-rear weight distribution, a feature that enhances handling and stability on the road. The inclusion of 19-inch wheels and a full-width LED taillight design further complements its sporty demeanor. Leapmotor offers six color options, including bold choices like Electric Yellow and Morgan Pink, catering to a diverse range of consumer preferences.

Leapmotor is also developing a high-performance version of the hatchback, the B05 Ultra. This variant is expected to cater to a younger, more performance-oriented audience and is scheduled for release in the first half of 2026. The Ultra model will feature enhanced styling elements and potentially a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system, although full specifications remain under wraps. According to Leapmotor's Senior Vice President, Cao Li, the Ultra will include an aerodynamic package designed to boost performance, and the interior will showcase suede-like materials to emphasize its sporty nature.

As the B05 and its Ultra variant prepare to enter the market, Leapmotor aims to solidify its position in China's competitive EV landscape. With support from Stellantis' European engineering team, the B05's chassis has been finely tuned to enhance driving dynamics. This partnership underscores Leapmotor's commitment to delivering high-quality electric vehicles that appeal to both domestic and international audiences. As the launch date approaches, industry observers remain keenly interested in how the B05 will perform against established competitors in the compact hatchback segment.

Looks promising, but will that single-tone black cabin undercut user interest in customization? Infotainment display seems high-tech, though.

The minimalist design of the B05 is intriguing, especially given current trends in automotive interiors. I wonder how it balances practicality with aesthetics.
