In a significant move within the plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) market, Geely's Lynk & Co has announced the commencement of pre-sales for its updated 07 EM-P and 08 EM-P models. This development marks a strategic step for the brand, known for its innovative approach and cutting-edge automotive technology.
Lynk & Co, a subsidiary of Geely, has officially opened pre-orders for the refreshed 07 EM-P and 08 EM-P PHEV models, starting September 11, 2025. The 08 EM-P is set to make its market debut on September 24, 2025, followed closely by the 07 EM-P on September 25, 2025. These models introduce advanced features, including a roof-mounted LiDAR system, positioning Lynk & Co at the forefront of automotive technology. The introduction of LiDAR technology underscores the brand's commitment to enhancing safety and driving automation features in its vehicles.
The Lynk & Co 08 EM-P will be available in four variants, including the 160 Long Range Max and the 230 AWD Performance Ultra H7, each catering to different consumer needs for range and performance. The 07 EM-P, on the other hand, offers three trims, all equipped with a robust plug-in hybrid system that combines a 1.5T engine with an electric motor, delivering a combined power of 381 horsepower. These specs are indicative of Lynk & Co's strategy to offer versatile yet powerful vehicles that meet the demands of environmentally conscious consumers while providing superior performance.
Design-wise, the 07 EM-P maintains its 'The Next Day' design philosophy with distinctive features such as split-type headlight clusters and a three-section air intake. The model measures 4835mm in length, 1900mm in width, and 1480mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2843mm. It is paired with an 18.99 kWh battery, offering a CLTC pure electric range of 126 kilometers. In contrast, the 08 EM-P emphasizes a more aggressive aesthetic with enlarged air intakes, optimized headlights, and new body color options like Sky Blue and Glimmer Gold. Its dimensions slightly differ, measuring 4825mm in length, 1915mm in width, and 1660mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2848mm.
Inside, the 08 EM-P showcases a modern cockpit with a three-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel, a full LCD instrument cluster, and a large floating central screen. The seating has been upgraded to integrated sport seats with a diamond mesh pattern, enhancing both comfort and style. The powertrain for the 08 EM-P remains consistent with its predecessors, with the single-motor version offering 280 kW (375 hp) and the dual-motor version delivering 436 kW (585 hp). This setup allows for pure electric ranges of up to 245 kilometers, catering to those seeking both efficiency and high performance.
Lynk & Co's launch of these refreshed models with advanced features like LiDAR represents a significant step in the evolution of PHEVs, promising enhanced safety and performance. As the brand continues to expand its lineup, it is poised to play a crucial role in the growing market for hybrid and electric vehicles. The strategic timing of the pre-sales and subsequent launches suggests a calculated move to capture market interest and position Lynk & Co as a leader in automotive innovation. As consumers increasingly prioritize sustainability and technology, Lynk & Co's offerings are likely to resonate well with environmentally conscious buyers.
