In a historic leap towards electrification, Ferrari has unveiled the Elettrica EV platform, its first-ever fully electric vehicle platform. This marks a significant shift for the luxury sports car maker, promising an electrifying blend of performance and sustainability.

Ferrari has long been synonymous with high-performance, gasoline-powered sports cars. However, in an era increasingly defined by sustainability and environmental responsibility, the Italian automaker has taken a bold step into the future with the introduction of its Elettrica EV platform. This platform will serve as the foundation for Ferrari's inaugural electric vehicle, expected to make its debut in concept form in early 2026, with full production slated for the spring of 2027. The Elettrica is designed to deliver what Ferrari describes as 'superlative performance' while maintaining the brand's hallmark of an 'authentic driving experience'.

One of the standout features of the Elettrica platform is its commitment to sustainability. The chassis and bodyshell incorporate 75% recycled aluminum, demonstrating Ferrari's dedication to reducing its environmental footprint. The architecture boasts short overhangs and an advanced driving position near the front axle, with the battery seamlessly integrated into the floorpan. This design choice not only enhances stability and handling but also lowers the vehicle's center of gravity by 80mm compared to traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) models. Such innovations reflect Ferrari's ability to adapt its legendary engineering prowess to the demands of electric mobility.

The Elettrica platform is powered by two electric axles developed in-house, showcasing Ferrari's commitment to maintaining control over its technology. The front axle, capable of producing 282 horsepower and delivering up to 3500 Nm of torque, can be decoupled at any speed to switch to rear-wheel drive. Meanwhile, the rear axle provides an impressive 831 horsepower and 8000 Nm in Performance Launch mode, culminating in a combined output exceeding 1100 horsepower. This formidable powertrain enables the Elettrica to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in just 2.5 seconds, with a top speed of 193 mph. These figures are a testament to Ferrari's determination to set new benchmarks in the electric vehicle sector.

Energy storage is another area where the Elettrica platform excels. The 122 kWh battery pack, designed and assembled at Ferrari's Maranello headquarters, is composed of 15 modules with 14 cells each. It boasts the highest energy density among electric vehicles, measuring nearly 195 Wh/kg. This advanced battery technology grants the Elettrica a range of approximately 530 kilometers on a single charge, positioning it as a competitive player in the luxury electric vehicle market. Ferrari's integration of these cutting-edge technologies underscores its commitment to not only embrace but also lead the charge in electric vehicle innovation.

As Ferrari prepares to unveil the concept version of the Elettrica in early 2026, the automotive world is keenly watching.
