Dreame Technology, the Chinese company known for its home appliances, has made significant strides in the automotive sector with the announcement of securing $2.1 billion in overseas orders. This development was revealed at the company's first strategic partner conference, signaling Dreame's ambitious expansion into the global electric vehicle market.
Dreame Technology, originally recognized for its range of home appliances, has taken a bold step into the automotive industry with its recent venture into high-end electric vehicles (EVs). At its first partner conference, held this month, Dreame disclosed that it had received international orders amounting to over 15 billion yuan, or approximately $2.1 billion USD. This announcement marks a significant milestone for the company as it seeks to establish a foothold in the premium EV market, challenging established luxury brands.
The partner conference drew representatives from 54 dealerships across 22 countries, with particularly strong interest from the Middle East and Central Asia. Dreame's strategy, dubbed 'ecosystem plus,' aims at extending its reach quickly across multiple product lines. The company plans to build dealership partnerships in up to 200 countries and regions over the long term, leveraging its existing reputation and technological prowess.
In a surprising shift from home appliances to high-tech automobiles, Dreame announced its automotive ambitions in August 2025, unveiling its first high-end electric sports car. Drawing comparisons to the Bugatti Chiron, this vehicle is positioned to compete with established luxury performance brands. Soon after, the company introduced its second model, a large luxury SUV, aimed at competing with the Rolls-Royce Cullinan. This move into the automotive sector reflects Dreame's intent to diversify and capture a share of the lucrative premium EV market.
Dreame's luxury SUV, expected to hit the market in 2027, showcases advanced features such as a 3.2-meter wheelbase, rear-hinged coach doors, and an all-electric powertrain. The vehicle is set to incorporate Cell-to-Pack (CTP 4.0) battery technology for enhanced efficiency and performance. Additionally, it will feature four independent electric motors, rear-wheel steering, and an adaptive chassis that adjusts based on sensor input. Notably, Dreame claims several original technical solutions, although some industry experts have questioned the originality of these innovations.
With plans to establish a production plant in Berlin, Germany, Dreame's expansion into the automotive sector is supported by its collaboration with French banking giant BNP Paribas. This strategic move places Dreame in direct competition with Tesla, whose Gigafactory is also located in Berlin. Dreame's entry into the premium EV sector underscores a broader trend among Chinese companies aiming to penetrate global markets, leveraging innovation and strategic partnerships.
