Chery has officially unveiled its latest electric vehicle, the iCar Super V23, a compact SUV that blends impressive performance with an attractive price point. The launch marks a significant milestone for Chery as the Super V23 secures a Guinness World Record title for its speed on challenging terrains.
The iCar Super V23 enters the market with five different trims, priced competitively between 122,800 and 174,800 yuan, which translates to approximately $17,300 to $24,600. This new model enhances the existing iCar V23 series with powerful electric motors and an impressive maximum cruising range of 550 kilometers. This range is particularly noteworthy as it positions the Super V23 as a leading contender in the compact SUV category for electric vehicles.
Notably, the iCar Super V23 has clinched a Guinness World Record for the fastest ascent on a 400-meter-plus sand dune, completing the feat in just 2:38.34 minutes. This achievement highlights the vehicle's robust engineering and ability to handle difficult terrains, setting it apart from many of its contemporaries in the mass-produced EV segment.
The design of the iCar Super V23 maintains the retro square box shape synonymous with the iCar series, while introducing exclusive features like the red 'S' logos strategically placed on the vehicle body. These logos appear on the front grille, fenders, and tailgate, providing a distinctive look. Additionally, the model is available in nine vibrant exterior paint options, ranging from purple and yellow to classic tones like black and white, giving consumers a wide array of customization choices.
Performance-wise, the iCar Super V23 offers two powertrain configurations: Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) and All-Wheel Drive (AWD). The RWD variant boasts a 185 kW electric motor, paired with either a 59.93 kWh or an 80.16 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, delivering a range of 401 to 550 kilometers. Meanwhile, the AWD version adds a 150 kW front motor, pushing the system's power to 335 kW and enabling a swift 0 to 100 km/h acceleration in just 4.5 seconds. This variant also offers a range of up to 501 kilometers.
Inside the iCar Super V23, luxury meets technology with an 8.88-inch LCD instrument panel and a 15.4-inch central control screen, both powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip. The vehicle supports various mobile connectivity options, including CarPlay and HiCar. Unique interior details, such as a red ring and the 'S' logo, along with a Boost button on the steering wheel, enhance the driving experience, differentiating it from the standard iCar V23 model.
Safety and driver assistance are prioritized with the inclusion of the Falcon 500 advanced driving assistance system. This system is supported by 22 sensors, including ultrasonic and millimeter-wave radars, and cameras, enabling over 23 advanced driving capabilities. These features collectively ensure that the iCar Super V23 not only delivers on performance but also provides a secure and intelligent driving experience.
