In a nod to the past, Ford is reviving a classic favorite with the introduction of the 2026 Mustang Mach-E GT California Special package. This iconic throwback to the 1960s Mustang comes with unique styling touches and modern features, offering a blend of nostalgia and innovation.

The California Special package for the 2026 Mustang Mach-E GT is a homage to the classic 1968 Mustang, celebrating Ford's historical connection with the Golden State. This new iteration is distinguished by its Rave Blue accents, a color developed by Ford that adds a fresh twist to the Mach-E's design. The blue highlights are prominently displayed on various parts of the vehicle, including the black hood decal, the outline of the rear GT badge, and the illuminated Mustang logo on the grille. These aesthetic updates also extend to the 20-inch wheels, which feature black aero covers with blue accents, enhancing the vehicle's sporty look.

The Mustang Mach-E GT model required to unlock the California Special package is powered by a formidable 480-horsepower dual-motor all-wheel-drive system. This setup offers a robust 680 pound-feet of torque in its standard form, with the Performance variant pushing the envelope further to 700 pound-feet. This powertrain not only ensures impressive performance but also provides an EPA-estimated range of 280 miles, making it a practical yet thrilling choice for electric vehicle enthusiasts.

Inside the cabin, the Mach-E GT/CS offers a blend of style and comfort with its Navy Pier upholstery. This material, highlighted by a silver stripe and reflective blue detailing, covers the sporty seats, center console, and steering wheel. The attention to detail is further showcased in the floor mats, which mirror the seat design with blue and silver stitching. These interior modifications not only enhance the aesthetic appeal but also pay homage to the original California Special's unique styling cues.

As Ford prepares to open orders for the 2026 Mustang Mach-E later this week, the California Special package is set to add $2495 to the Mach-E GT's price. With deliveries expected in the first quarter of the next year, this offering is poised to attract both nostalgic enthusiasts and new fans. This launch marks an exciting chapter in Ford's electric vehicle lineup, melding historical significance with modern technological advancements.

Ford's revival of the California Special is intriguing. 480 horsepower is impressive, but will the torque curve really capture the classic Mustang feel? Electric motors offer efficiency and torque, but nostalgia might need more than just Rave Blue accents.
